U. Of CO Office of Equity Must Defend Itself In Unusual Sex Discrimination Case
Rejected male job applicant claims equity office historically hires only females investigators.
When Christian E. Sparks applied for a position as a Civil Rights Investigator at the University of Colorado (CU Anschutz), he had 20 years of experience investigating assault, sexual assault, fraud, child abuse and human trafficking.
He was not even given an interview.
Sparks alleges the UC Office of Equity “has repeatedly and historically” given females preference for the job “even when it is non meritorious.”
The equity office employs eight females and one male (Title IX Director).
He claims that he was one of only two candidates in a pool of 32 applicants who met all of the preferred qualifications for the position. He said the office then decided to broaden its criteria and interview “any candidate who met at least three preferred qualifications”
A 26-year-old woman was hired.
