This may be one of the first times in U.S. history that a chorus of cheers from Americans accompanied the failure of a major U.S. sports team on the world stage.

The U.S. Women’s National Team was eliminated by Sweden from the World Cup competition on Sunday when controversial player Megan Rapinoe (@mPinoe) failed to make a penalty kick.
